Pete Lomas is Managing Consultant Device Development at Broughton. He has over 25 years’ experience in product development, with the last four years spent leading the NGP development for a global multinational.
He is a Mechanical Engineer by background and has an honors degree from Imperial College, London. Early in his career Pete worked for a global medical device company, where his most notable achievement was being credited as the inventor on several patents concerned with the development of single use consumables intended for detecting cancerous cells. More than 200 million of these consumables have been used worldwide in the last 20 years.
Pete has managed multi-disciplinary product development teams in various industries, from automotive to novel industrial heating.
He led and managed his most recent team over the last four years whilst leading the development of electronic vapor and heated tobacco products.
During this time, he managed the development of their first heated tobacco device, from concept through to mass production, which was launched in 2019. Pete also managed the optimization of their existing electronic vapor device and the development of multiple new novel vapor devices. He was responsible for the product design and composition module of the multinational’s first ever US PMTA submission, where he gained significant knowledge and expertise in this area.
Pete is passionate about product development and finding novel and innovative solutions to engineering problems. He believes in questioning and challenging everything, constantly striving for improvement. As a result, he is named as inventor on over 80 published patent applications, of which over 70 are related to NGPs
